At Court Fields, we aim to provide students with opportunities to extend, deepen, and challenge their understanding beyond the classroom. Parental support plays a vital role in this; by engaging with your child’s learning, encouraging a consistent homework routine, and ensuring they have a quiet, well-equipped space to study at home. To further support this, we offer a daily Homework Club (Monday to Thursday) in the library, providing a calm and focused environment for students to complete their work
Beyond compulsory assigned homework, students can explore subjects outside the curriculum through enrichment activities. Our Enrichment Homework site offers ideas, key dates, and useful links to support independent learning and curiosity. Enrichment homework comes in various forms, including written assignments, research, skill development, and extended projects.
Year 7
In Year 7, students focus on English, Maths, and Science, helping them establish strong study habits without feeling overwhelmed. They are to do a minimum of 30 mins per week of homework for each of these core subjects through Sparx Reader, Sparx Maths and Sparx Science. Students can further extend their learning through our enrichment homework activities for all subjects.
Year 8 & 9
As students advance through Key Stage 3, their homework gradually increases to encourage independence, discipline, and readiness for future academic challenges. However, this progression remains flexible to accommodate other responsibilities. They are expected to do a minimum of 30 mins per week of compulsory homework on each of their core subjects via Sparx Reader, Sparx Maths and Sparx Science. They will also do 30 minutes compulsory Art, Languages and Humanities (History & Geography) homework per week. Students can further extend their learning through our enrichment homework activities for all subjects.
Year 10 & 11
In year 10 and 11 pupils need to further strengthen their independent study skills to prepare them for their upcoming GCSE exams. They are expected to spend a minimum of one hour on each subject including both Core subjects (English, Maths and Science) and the option subjects.
