Court Fields School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
We ensure that consistent and effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support children, families and staff at school. All concerns are passed through the members of staff who are trained as Designated Safeguarding Officers who make up the Safeguarding Team in school. This team is led by Mrs Westwood, as our Designated Safeguarding Lead.
As a wider school team we understand our obligation that Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, not just the members of the Safeguarding team. This is a clear expectation, which is upheld by all members of our school staff.
We also know how important it is for our students to safeguard each other, and we ensure that they have the opportunity to tell us if they’re worried about something. That could be about themselves or someone else. They could speak to their Tutor, or one of our Safeguarding Team, to the Pastoral Staff in the Hub, to another trusted adult, or by sending an email to email@example.com.
Should you have any concerns relating to the safety and welfare of a child at the school you should immediately contact the Designated Safeguarding Lead, Mrs Westwood, or in her absence, a member of the Safeguarding Team (see details here).
You can also contact the Safeguarding Team firstname.lastname@example.org, and you can also contact Somerset Children’s Social Care directly on 0300 123 2224.
Should you have any concerns in terms of safeguarding relating to the behaviour of a member of staff, you should immediately contact the Headteacher, Mrs Polly Matthews.
All allegations against staff are dealt with in accordance with the Government guidance ‘Working Together’, and in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’.

Wider Safeguarding & Multi-Agency Working
Our school staff work as part of a safeguarding system in the Trust, and in partnership with our community in Wellington and further afield. Court Fields School follows the Somerset Early Help Protocol, is part of the Wellington Community Learning Partnership. We are actively involved in Wellington Team Around the School Meetings and the Wellington One Team: these are multi-agency meetings which help us to support our students.
We work closely with Children’s Social Care, the Family Intervention Service, Somerset School Nursing Team, Police, Young Somerset, the Mental Health in Schools Team (MHST), CAMHS (Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services) and many other organisations to promote the welfare of our students and young people and to protect them from harm.
