We express our great sadness for the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Her dedication to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and to her other realms and territories is unparalleled and we thank her for her service. Our thoughts go to those closest to her and all around the world that mourn her loss.
Our school and Trust will observe the mourning period whilst continuing to support and teach our students, families and staff. Unless otherwise stated, please assume any activities and events we already have scheduled will continue as planned. As yet, we are awaiting information as to whether we will observe a national day of mourning for Her Majesty’s funeral, which means schools could be closed that day, but outside of this, as far as we know, school hours will continue as normal. As soon as we receive information on this we will let you know.
Our school will be keeping students informed of news about these events as part of assemblies and class activities. In tutor time this morning, we showed a PowerPoint and discussed both the life and work of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, in addition to aspects of public mourning and grief, and the details around the monarchy and succession. We also discussed her incredible legacy as well as what is going to happen next. As always, our children demonstrated kindness, compassion, curiosity and knowledge with one another. Attached is the PowerPoint we showed in tutor time today so you can access it to further support your child.
We know that everyone will be feeling differently about this news and if you are someone or know of someone who needs support, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. If you think your child may be experiencing particular upset due to the passing of the Queen, please do let us know so we can provide additional support if needed.
It is expected that there will be significant disruption across the UK, particularly in London, during this period; therefore, we will endeavour to keep you up to date should there be any further changes.
Thank you for your understanding.
