The year 8`s have a had a busy week – playing 2 fixtures in as many days.
The first against Academy took place on Wednesday 8th October. Courtfields started brightly and scored very early on. Despite some solid defending from Taunton Academy, Court Fields emerged as comfortable winners.
Students at Court Fields have been taking part in the House Rugby 7`s over the last week.
Students in all years were representing their house in hotly contested games that were often on a knife edge throughout. The rugby was played at a fast and furious pace with some excellent displays of fast running and superb tackling. The year 7`s were particularly impressive and we look forward to seeing them in their first competitive school fixtures later in the year. After the dust had settled and all year groups had played their matches, Emerald emerged as overall winners being dominant in years 7, 8 & 9. Ruby finished in a very consistent 2nd place with Topaz – despite winning matches in the older years, finishing 3rd. Sapphire had some very close matches but didn’t quite win enough games and finished in 4th.
The Court Fields Year 9 team took on Bishops Foxes in their first game of the season. Foxes certainly had the larger pack who proved to be a dominant force despite some excellent rucking from Court Fields and occasional turnover ball. Foxes lead at half time by 17points. Court Fields started to use their quick back line on a more regular basis in the second half which gave the Foxes defence something to thing about. However, the damage had been done in the first half end Foxes emerged as 25-0 winners.
