The Court Fields climbing squad came away with second place in the South West Schools Championships this year. The standard of competition was much higher than previous years and our team contained three young novice climbers who showed a great deal of persistence over a long tiring day.
Special congratulations to Joe Walmsley who flashed every single route as well as winning his category in the British Youth Series contest on the previous day which means that he will be travelling to Edinburgh for the National Finals at the end of April.

On 29th March the Court Fields Climbing team entered round 2 of the south west inter-schools climbing competition. Round 2 was a bouldering competition and the Court Fields squad had to battle hard to maintain their winning margin from the round 1. Paul Russell Manager of the Quay climbing wall said “it was a very close competition but Court Fields managed to win by just a few points.

SW schools climbing comp
Court Fields climber Joe Walmsley competed in the British Youth Climbing Championship Final in Edinburgh over the weekend.
Joe achieved 16th place in his category and was the highest placed 13 year old in the competition. Joe competed against regional finalists from all over England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The South West Team came 5th overall.

Court Fields School have won the 2014 South West Inter Schools climbing competition after a strong second round performance at The Climbing Academy, Bristol on Sunday 11th May.
The Court Fields climbing squad surprised themselves by taking second place in the first round of the SW inter-schools climbing contest at The Quay Climbing Centre in Exeter, splitting the strong competition from North Devon schools Pilton College and Park School.

Congratulations to Joe Walmsley from Yr7 who has been doing very well in some local and regional climbing competitions.
Joe came first in the Yr5 to Yr8 age group category at the inter school climbing competition run by Rock & Rapid in South Molton. He also finished 3rd in group C (age group born in 1999 & 2000) at the Welsh climbing competition held at the Rock UK climbing wall near Cardiff. Well done Joe!
