Twenty-two students recently enjoyed an incredible trip to Austria during the February half term. We left school on Friday evening to embark on the twenty-eight hour journey to Bruck, in the Tirol region of Austria. Our ferry left Dover at around 4:30am and we finally arrived at the Eberleiten that evening. Everybody was very relieved to make it to bed to get ready for the upcoming week.
The next morning we were fully kitted out with our skis, boots, poles and helmets. When everyone had their equipment, we headed to Kaltenbach to begin our first day skiing. The weather was good, and so were the conditions on the piste. We met our ski instructors, and split off into three groups so that the beginners could start their lessons, and the more experienced skiers could get going too. It was very exciting to be back on the slopes, and everybody found the first day very rewarding indeed. That evening, the whole group went out to go bowling, and there was some very fierce competition between us all!
Our wifi connection won’t let us upload images, however we can report that the trip is going fantastically well. The snow conditions have been perfect and the weather has veered from zero visibility and snow to perfect sunshine. The beginners group have progressed from tentative first turns to red runs while the advanced group have shredded the whole mountain, spending much of their time off piste.
There have been no injuries, though a couple of hearts have been broken by the ski instructors. Tomorrow is the day of the race and an opportunity for everyone to show how far they have improved. We shall have photos and videos to upload on our return to school.
Court Fields 2016 Ski Trip
This is a fantastic opportunity for all year groups to enjoy an action packed fun filled week in Austria!
We will be staying in a beautiful quality hotel in the Austrian ski region of the Montafon Valley. The hotel offers a 3 course dinner in the evenings and a buffet breakfast in the mornings before skiing and students will have a hot lunch on the mountains in one of the mountain restaurants every day.
Each day students will take part in ski lessons led by a fully qualified ski instructor. The evenings will be spent doing a variety of planned activities such as ice skating, sleigh rides, swimming in an indoor/outdoor pool to name a few.
